The VME enabled the addition of motion or gesture control to hand-held consumer devices that otherwise worked on buttons, making it more intuitive, easier to use & attractive to customers
Motion as a UI is a more intuitive & familiar experience. Studied have shown that in a survey, 80% people preferred the use of gesture or motion based controls as they found it easier to use & enabled a quicker learning curve.
Vicara was posed with the challenge of enabling gesture control on a pre-existing low-power architecture. The available power as well as compute performance was quite simple / low. However, the VME was able to function with these extreme constraints & deliver great performance & accuracy.
Additionally, VME only used 1% of the total battery capacity to function.
